Following graduation, I attended Miami University and received a B.S. in Aeronautics.
Following college, I went into the U.S. Navy and became a pilot. I obtained the Commodore's List award as a pilot training Distinguished Graduate. I upgraded to an Instructor Pilot, Flight Examiner, Simulator Instructor, and Maintenance Test Pilot, and then is my second assignment a Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation Pilot at the Naval Air Test Center.
After I left active duty I went to work for American Airlines where I flew for 36 years. In addition, I simultaneously did an interservice transfer to the Air Force Reserve to have both of m jobs in the same city. While in the Air Force, I flew in two wars.
I retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1998 and I retired from American Airlines in 2020.
Retirement did not sit well with me because flying and instructing is not a job, it's a way of life. It is a labor of love and something I am passionate about.
After about a year of retirement, I was offered a position too good to pass up and I became a Flight Instructor at Flight Safety International in Columbus. I primarily teach NetJets pilots and copilots how to fly the Canadair Challenger 650 business jet.
We are in the process of relocating to Columbus, where our son and daughter live. Our son is an investment banker, his fiance is a dentist, and our daughter is an attorney.
