Well, I finally learned the hard way to stop drinking and drugging in September of ‘04. Had a really bad motorcycle accident 1.2 miles from home. Ended up life flighted to Metro, where I spent a month learning to walk / talk again, and lots of PT. Missed about 8 mos. of work, never gave up riding the bike, just ride slower, sober and a helluva lot more aware of my surroundings. I can’t say it has been easy, but I have learned much about life, and how short it can be. Jesus kept me alive for a reason, and that part I’m still figuring out. I was very fortunate to not lose my job, or my life for that matter, as I slipped in and out of this world. So yeah, I can say I am blessed, and to still be here alive and kicking is testament of God’s mercy. Like I said, I am still a work in progress, AMEN!

School Story

Bobby Cannon reminded me of the time the school had entrance doors chained shut, and I slipped out the 1st floor window on the parking lot side, ran home and called the fire dept. Needless to say some school administrators got their butts reamed out. I think it was in 10th grade.

Sad to read the news of Jim's passing, especially since we are all now in the beginning to enter our senior years, this is where life is supposed to start to change for the better, RIP  Jim

Hi Pam, just finished reading your “ life “ as you put it.And WOW, what a great life you have both experienced. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the part about the cars and Bud GranPrix, but the part about the cats is what I thought was very admirable. Most people just ignore these abandoned animals, and that strikes a chord with me that would like to turn the tables and do to them what they have done to those cats. Our late lab Jamz was a rescue from Alabama. I had Jamz for over 13 yrs before I had to tearfully euthanize her due to cancer on her liver. When I got her my friend Terry found her and two other dogs left in a house with no food, little water and Jamz had 13 puppies that didn’t make it. People that mistreat animals will go to a special kind of hell as far as I am concerned. GREAT STORY GIRL!!!

Hi Dorian, have a stupid question, how did you get the nickname “ Doorknobs” ? Just curious, as I have never heard you ever called by that name?

I remember that protest, Somerville was the Snake, and Paine / Payne was the asst principal. That guy could warm your ass real good with that paddle!! They should of never done away with corporal punishment, I believe most of the nonsense that goes in today is due to a lack of good ol fashioned discipline!!!!

Wow, so sad to read about Frank's passing, as well as the rest of those who went on before us. Kevin Kilgore and Kenny Geiger to only name a few. Many great memories hanging out at the LaValle's , the pool, his Mom's '65 T-bird , doing some serious burnouts in the BHS parking lot. May you rest peace Frank.
